“It was a real privilege to be involved.  I represented the serving Navigator alongside some incredible artefacts from the NMRN collection, including a sextant used by VC recipient Commander Cameron RNR and a beautiful marine chronometer from HMS Victory.
With the school holidays in full swing, it was great to see so many curious minds — young and the less young — engaging with naval history and asking insightful questions about life in today’s Royal Navy. These are exactly the kind of experiences that inspired my own journey.
As a serving Officer, it’s always a pleasure to step beyond the day job and connect with the public — especially the next generation. Whether sharing stories, talking leadership, or life at sea, the enthusiasm from kids and parents alike was genuinely uplifting.
Huge thanks to the brilliant NMRN team for their support — and to everyone who came and made it so memorable.
Here’s to sparking curiosity and keeping our naval heritage alive”.
