2020 Fundraising

The RNOC took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge in 2020 and was delighted with the generous support from ARNO members and supporters and received £15k in matched funding, which will help support the Charity’s beneficiaries at this challenging time.

The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign and helps UK-registered charities to raise funds for their projects by doubling donations and the RNOC was very glad of the opportunity to take part.

100 for ARNO 100

To mark its Centenary, ARNO launched a key fundraising campaign in July, 100 for ARNO 100, to support the vital work of its partner the Royal Naval Officers’ Charity. As a result of Covid-19 we have seen a major reduction in income and anticipate an increased demand for grants and assistance in the months and years to come. The RNOC provides benevolence to both serving and retired officers of the Naval Service (RN, RM and QARNNS), their spouses, former spouses and dependents who are in need of financial support. The Charity’s flexible, individual approach transforms the lives of those in need.

In 2019 the RNOC awarded grants totalling almost £432k, in both one-off grants and regular annuities, and meets a diverse range of needs including assistance with education, debt repayment, home adaptations, care home fees and end of life care. During COVID 19, the Charity has responded quickly to provide advice, signposting and often life-changing support.

We were very glad to see members support our July fundraising campaign, from cycling around Corfu to walking 100 miles in Hampshire. Funds raised from the 100 for ARNO 100 Challenge and generous donations went well beyond our initial target. All donations will directly support the Charity’s work now and in the future. Huge thanks to all those who took part.
