The church has a history dating back to Norman times. After the Great Fire of 1666, Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt the church and its history is intertwined with a number of the livery companies. The website is well-worth reading since the stories of Jimmy Garlick (thought to be a mummified sailor) and the Royal Jubilee Bells (Commissioned to be used in the Golden Jubilee River Pageant) are both fascinating.
The service will start at 1030 and the choir and organist are both renowned. The vicar has conducted a Trafalgar Service before since his last role was at the Chapel Royal Hampton Court.
The Little Ship club is a very short walk (5mins) from the church and will undoubtedly be familiar to many ARNO members. The club is in a spectacular setting on the Thames and although there is only space for 80 guests in the dining room, lunch should be as jovial as ever but perhaps slightly less noisy!
