We are delighted to have been given a generous donation from the proceeds of uniform items sold recently at auction. Horace Geldard Oswin (born 1 October 1896) had a long and distinguished career and his family wished the proceeds of the sale to go to ARNO as an organisation assisting naval personnel.
Commander Horace Geldard Oswin OBE Royal Navy first served on HMS Devonshire from November 1917 as Secretary to CinC Western Approaches. He also served in HMS Tamar Hong Kong as Commodore’s Secretary from 1937-39; HMS Calypso, Reserve Fleet Devonport from 1939-41; HMS Woolwich, Chatham as Admiral’s Secretary from 1941-43; HMS Tyne as Admiral’s Secretary from 1943-44 and HMS Malabar, Bermuda from 1944 as Secretary to Vice Admiral Sir Irvine Glennie KCB, Senior British Naval Officer Western Atlantic.
