WW2 Photographic Project

Photographer Greg White is working on a project portraying the men and women involved in WW2, he feels very strongly about this project and is hoping to turn it into an exhibition and a book. The project has been commissioned by 125 Magazine, a photography magazine, which plans to run an issue called “Heroes”.

The initial focus for the project is WW2, but should there be any other veterans interested, Greg would also be very interested in getting in contact with them to get involved in a further expansion of the project.

Greg would like to shoot this as soon as possible and is happy to travel to where it would be best for anyone interested. The shoot will take approximately one hour per person and involve a small set up of a few lights and a backdrop, depending on access this could be done at either a community or town hall.

Should any member be interested in taking part in this project, please contact Sara Christensen at email: sara@webberrepresents.com

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (www.ms-sc.org)

Did you know that the Sea Cadets is a charitable organisation? If not, you are not alone - many are under the impression that the Sea Cadet Corps is fully MOD-funded like the ACF and ATC.  This is not the case.  While the RN provides a very welcome £8.4 million annually in grant aid, a similar sum has to be raised by the Sea Cadet Corps' parent charity, The Marine Society & Sea Cadets, its Branches around the UK and the nearly 400 individual SCC Units.  On average some £400 has to be raised annually to maintain each cadet place.  This is no small task.

This is your opportunity to give something back and support the UK's leading maritime youth charity in its efforts to produce the future's good citizens.  It is worth noting that around 20% of new entrants to the RN annually are former cadets, but more importantly, they're the ones who excel and stick at it.

Annual membership of the MSSC costs just £25 and life membership is £350.  If you have time you can spare then Units are always looking for volunteers to help instruct the cadets, or you could serve on a Unit or MSSC Branch Committee seeking finance and support in the community.  The need for such volunteers is ever-present and you and your experience would be welcomed with open arms. Contact MSSC HQ on 020 7654 7000 or email: reception@ms-sc.org
